    What is a self-contained air conditioning system? Self-contained air conditioners are the best solution for boats with up to three cabins. Every cabin is equipped with its own self-contained marine air conditioner unit, which is spec’ed according to the cabin’s size, cooling/heating demand, and location of the boat. Self-contained and split systems with 22,000 BTU and higher are constructed with expansion valves. Systems 4,000 BTU to 22,000 BTU constructed with a capillary tube or expansion valve.
